Memorable MacGyver Halloween Costume Cosplay
The time is nigh! Ready to macgyver together a classic MacGyver costume? Grab a friend or two and have each dress up someone from the list below – sure some may assume you’re in an 80s time warp, and others will know immediately and to them we deliver an approving nod. Read on for our favorite MacGyver-themed costume ideas!
1: Classic MacGyver – Nothing is more memorable than the classic look MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) brought to his character. In fact, Mac is probably one of the most well-known mullet wearers in the history of pop culture! So grab your paperclip and duct tape. For this you will need at least a few of these items– the more the better.
2: Murdoc – MacGyver’s arch enemy and primary antagonist in the series, Murdoc (Michael Des Barres) is definitely a bad guy to remember. He is seen at least once in every season (except Season 1), and often in different looks or disguises. Here are some items that will help you throw together a quick Murdoc look (we recommend DIY’ing your own flame thrower or prop weapons – search “cosplay flamethrowers” for ideas).
3: Penny Parker – Another main character with a variety of looks is Penny Parker, played by Teri Hatcher. Here she is in her second appearance – Season 2, Episode 13: “Soft Touch,” where she is put up by MacGyver for a few days while looking for a job as a singing telegram.
4: MacGyver as “Dexter” – Dexter Fillmore is often thought of as MacGyver’s favorite alias. He goes undercover as the computer geek on multiple occasions. Dexter is an awkward computer hacker, and although extra-nerdy, the persona helps to bring down a money launderer, stop the theft of top-secret Phoenix Foundation equipment, and shut down a counterfeit baseball memorabilia enterprise. Dexter can be found in three MacGyver episodes: Jenny’s Chance, Deep Cover, and Squeeze Play.
5: Penny Parker as “Cleo” – MacGyver’s friend Penny Parker gets the lead part in a new musical Cleo Rocks, and invites him to her rehearsal. MacGyver suspects it may be a plot by his arch-nemesis Murdoc to trap him. Despite it indeed being an elaborate set up, this look has become one of Penny’s most memorable outfits in the MacGyver series.
6: Pete Thornton – MacGyver’s boss and friend, Pete Thornton (Dana Elcar) is an operative at the Department of External Services (DXS). Here’s how we would put together a classic Pete Thornton look.
7: Jack Dalton – Mac’s best friend, who he’s known since high school, is Jack Dalton. Jack, played by Bruce McGill in the original MacGyver series, is an aviator and has a weakness for get-rich-quick schemes that invariably get him (and usually Mac) into trouble. The entertaining bestie first appeared in the episode “Jack of Lies” and went on to be in 16 other episodes.
